On September 28, 2016, Tom Haak of the HR Trend Institute gave a presentation at the Fast Growth Icons conference in Amsterdam. The title: The role of HR in scaleups.

The core message: scaleups need wordclass HR.
The mechanism often is as follows: when a startup becomes a scaleup and the number of employees exceed 150-200 people management becomes more important, and the founders start to look for a professional HR manager. Often first a professional recruiter, as hiring is HR priority number 1. The recruiter becomes the general HR manager. Organizations of 150-200 people can most of the time not find nor afford the best HR professionals. The enthusiastic young HR professional who is hired, starts to implement what she or he learned at school and what they have seen at other larger companies. What is taught at school is often not very recent. Large corporates are not very good benchmarks.
Scaleups deserve and need word class HR, tailored to their specific needs. Ask seasoned HR professionals to help you design your HR architecture and infrastructure.
